Margaret Murray
CEO, Association for Community Affiliated Plans
Murray, who founded the Association for Community Affiliated Plans in 2001, has overseen its growth from 14 community health center-owned plans to 82 safety-net health plans. Its members cover more than 25 million people through Medicaid, Medicare and marketplace plans. Over the past year, Murray’s leadership proved vital as states redetermined Medicaid eligibility after the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic. In response to broad confusion and administrative complications, Murray spearheaded the launch of StayCovered, a multistate, multichannel public awareness campaign to help spread the word about how to check for coverage. The campaign reached more than 18 million people and more than 133,000 were directed to resources to renew their coverage, according to ACAP. Murray also collaborated with dozens of other organizations urging Congress to pass continuous Medicaid eligibility for adults.
