Under Rhee’s leadership, the philanthropic organization Arnold Ventures first launched its healthcare portfolio. Since then, the team has grown to include more than two dozen people working to support research and influence policies. Through grants, her focus is on improving healthcare delivery, lowering costs and reducing disparities. In the past year, the organization funded more than $50 million in projects. Specific efforts included Medicare Advantage affordability, drug patent reform, site-neutral pricing and reform of the U.S. organ donation system. Before taking on her role as the head of Arnold Ventures in 2019, she served as president and CEO of the Laura and John Arnold Foundation, the executive director of Baylor College of Medicine and a vice president at venture capital firm Sandbox Industries.
