Diversity Leaders in Healthcare - 2024

Lopera has worked to establish and meet several diversity, equity and inclusion goals at the Cambridge, Massachusetts-headquartered health system. For instance, people of color made up 27% of new leadership and clinical hires in fiscal 2023. Lopera — the first person to hold the chief DEI officer role at the organization — also spearheaded a health equity dashboard to track progress and guide priorities. His team analyzed data to find health disparities among Black and Latino patients, partner with local practices and develop targeted interventions to address unequal outcomes.
