Starcher was tapped to lead the Cincinnati-headquartered health system in 2018, after the merger between Bon Secours Health System and Mercy Health was completed. Starcher had previously served as president and CEO of Mercy Health. With Starcher at the helm, the 50-hospital system has looked to expand access to care. This year, the system finalized an agreement to form a joint venture partnership with home-based health agency Compassus and announced a multiyear agreement with Philips to standardize patient monitoring throughout its hospitals. Additionally, it ramped up focus on its onsite health clinics, through which individuals can access medical services at their places of employment. In one case study, published in October, establishing an on-site clinic saved a Greenville, North Carolina, manufacturing company more than $63,000 in health plan costs and 1,058 hours of estimated work time.
