Jo Ann Jenkins
Retired CEO, AARP
Jenkins stepped down in November after a decade as CEO of the organization dedicated to furthering the interests of older Americans. During that time period, she and the AARP advocated on behalf of its more than 37 million members, such as by pushing for lower prescription drug costs, support for caregivers and protection for Medicare. Before her retirement, she oversaw the release of AARP’s vision for a national plan for aging, which includes the promotion of healthy living and access to affordable, high-quality care. The plan also highlights the need to foster a strong, diverse healthcare workforce — particularly in the areas of primary care, geriatrics and at-home services — and to increase Medicaid long term services and supports spending. Before joining AARP, Jenkins was chief operating officer for the Library of Congress.
