We have been living in a second Gilded Age in America, in which the accumulation of personal wealth has taken precedence above all other values. One problem with that behaviorother than the resulting economic bubbleis that the he who dies with the most toys wins philosophy leaves society as a whole crippled. Work that might benefit the entire nation is relegated to the back burner, and the country declines materially and spiritually.
Health Care Hall of Fame - 2009
The Health Care Hall of Fame award is one of healthcare industry’s most prestigious honors. A partnership between Modern Healthcare and the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE), the program was created to recognize the men and women who have made extraordinary strides, outstanding and lasting contributions to the healthcare industry.
Each year, two or three healthcare luminaries are inducted into the Modern Healthcare Hall of Fame. Since 1988, one hundred eleven (111) healthcare visionaries, original thinkers and leaders have been honored with this coveted distinction. A plaque to commemorate the honor is installed in the Health Care Hall of Fame, prominently displayed at Pennsylvania Hospital, the nation’s first hospital founded by Benjamin Franklin and Thomas Bond.
