Victor Rey Jr.
Salinas Valley Health
Rey has served as president of the board of the health system, which includes an acute-care hospital and a network of urgent care clinics, since 2018. He played a vital part in the development of a partnership with local competitor Montage Health, contributing to the launch of a Medicare Advantage program and the Diabetes Collaborative of Monterey County. He also championed Salinas Valley Health’s involvement with the Blue Zones Project, which works to lower healthcare costs and increase economic vitality through community transformation. Rey has advocated for the importance of culturally sensitive care delivery, including through bilingual communications. Under his board leadership, Salinas Valley Health has expanded access to services, with its payer-neutral clinics now employing more than 170 physicians and its mobile clinic providing care—along with non-perishable food, grocery and gas cards, clothing, blankets, toys and diapers—to underserved areas at no charge.
