Excellence in Governance - 2023

Brody has served in governance roles throughout the organization for nearly two decades, beginning in 2006 as a member of the UnityPoint Health-Des Moines board overseeing the system’s largest region. He joined the corporate board in 2019 and has been chair since 2021. In that role, Brody onboarded a new CEO and senior executive team after a period of significant change and led board efforts to kick-start a strategic reset for the system, including initiatives focused on a $500 million bottom-line turnaround. He spearheaded strategic unification initiatives among affiliate hospitals and clinics and advocated for programs to build a unified workplace culture across the system’s markets, which span Iowa, southern Wisconsin and western Illinois. Brody has also night rounded with system leaders at an affiliate hospital to interact with staff and receive feedback, persuading fellow board members to join him.
