Susan Crown
Rush University Medical Center
Crown has served on the Rush board for more than 30 years, becoming chair in 2018. In that role she helped ease the COVID-19 pandemic’s burden on the health system by establishing committees to seek out and apply for alternative funding sources. Under her leadership, the organization launched its own telehealth platform and focused extensively on patient transfers from other hospitals to speed up access to quality care. Crown, who is chair and founder of the Susan Crown Exchange and chair and CEO of Owl Creek Partners, has championed work to reduce health disparities through the Rush BMO Institute for Health Equity and close the “death gap” afflicting neighborhoods across Chicago. In her many years of service she also helped oversee construction of the system’s downtown butterfly-shaped tower, its largest project on record.
