In 2023, Cheng, a leader in pediatric population health research and policy, announced an organizational goal of eliminating pediatric suicides by 2033. She led the launch of the system’s Mental and Behavioral Health Institute, which will coordinate the organization’s many initiatives and programs to help address the pediatric mental health crisis. She also chairs the University of Cincinnati Pediatrics Department, comprising more than 1,000 faculty and medical staff. Additionally, she is director of the Cincinnati Children’s Research Foundation, which received more than $300 million in research grants and contracts in fiscal 2023.
