Dr. Rod Hochman
President and CEO, Providence
Hochman will retire at the end of 2024 after more than a decade at the helm of Renton, Washington-headquartered Providence. This year, under his leadership, the 51-hospital organization improved quality and reduced inequity in ambulatory care settings among populations of color. For instance, the organization boosted screenings for breast cancer, colon cancer and depression, along with increasing diabetes follow-ups. It also scaled up MedPearl, a Providence-developed, artificial intelligence-powered clinical decision-making platform. Nearly three-quarters of clinicians reported the tool improved their clinical management and workups, reducing time on administrative tasks. Hochman has sought to bring attention to the link between health equity and the environment, including by joining global climate leaders at the World Hospital Congress to discuss sustainable and resilient healthcare systems.
