Pisters, a surgeon, has devoted his career to eradicating cancer. As the head of the Houston-based organization — a position he’s held since 2017 — Pisters has led and implemented a multiyear strategy designed to advance MD Anderson’s clinical, operational and financial goals. He was instrumental in the formation of MD Anderson’s seventh network partnership, which formed the Rush MD Anderson Cancer Center; in launching its Institute for Data Science in Oncology; and in crafting relationships with international groups like the World Health Organization to advance cancer care and research on a global scale.  Pisters serves on the boards of the Greater Houston Partnership, the CEO Roundtable on Cancer and the Alliance of Dedicated Cancer Centers. He is also a member of the Philosophical Society of Texas.
