Cook has led PCORI — which funds studies aimed at helping patients and caregivers make more effective choices — since 2020. In the past year, the organization has supported more than 100 research projects across the U.S. She is a vocal advocate for ensuring health research accurately reflects the population of the country. Under her leadership, PCORI this year launched Foundational Expectations for Partnerships in Research. This endeavor sets forth an updated and comprehensive roadmap to include all voices in all stages of the research process. Additionally, PCORI supported a nearly 40% increase in the size and diversity of patient health data available through its real-world data network, in turn aiding health research studies on a national scale.
