Muenzer, a practicing pediatric emergency physician, was promoted last August to the chief physician executive role at the Arizona pediatric health system. Since 2016 he has served as chief operating officer for the physician practice, which includes more than 750 employed physicians and advanced practice providers. In late 2023, he led the launch of a universal screening and intervention program for youth with suicidal ideation. Under his leadership, Phoenix Children’s recently launched on-demand/online scheduling, with about 20% of all appointments currently being made online. Muenzer is also chief operating officer of Phoenix Children's Medical Group.
