Ryu was tapped this year to helm Risant Health, a nonprofit created from the acquisition of Geisinger by Kaiser Foundation Hospitals. As its CEO, Ryu is developing the organization’s strategy and operations model to achieve its goal of improving the health of millions of people through value-based care. Given Risant’s plans to acquire five to six systems by 2028 — including the recent acquisition of Greensboro, North Carolina-headquartered Cone Health — Ryu is laying the groundwork to integrate Risant’s organizations and their employees while preserving their local autonomy. Outside of Risant, Ryu recently finished his second term on the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission. He also serves on the boards of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), the Commonwealth Fund, and the KP Medical Foundation.
