Dr. Georges Benjamin
Executive director, American Public Health Association
Benjamin, who has led the organization since 2002, has been an outspoken advocate for greater awareness and action related to the effects of climate change on health. He recently joined the National Commission on Climate and Workforce Health, a coalition convened to help employers protect workers from the health risks of climate change. This year, Benjamin praised President Joe Biden for including funding increases in the fiscal 2025 budget proposal that would support the public health system, including money for violence prevention and better preparation for public health emergencies.
