Dr. David Rhew
Global chief medical officer and VP of healthcare, Microsoft
Since August 2019, Rhew has been integral to driving Microsoft’s health-related endeavors. This year, Microsoft has continued to ramp up its focus on artificial intelligence in healthcare. Rhew has spoken about the importance of transparency in AI: In March, the company partnered with 16 health systems to launch a group known as the Trustworthy and Responsible AI Safety Network, or TRAIN. The consortium is focused on implementing guardrails regarding the use of the technology. Microsoft in October also announced it had partnered with electronic health record company Epic to build an ambient AI tool for nurses enabling efficient documentation. Before arriving at Microsoft, Rhew served as chief medical officer and vice president for enterprise healthcare at Samsung. He is on the Board of Industry Leaders for the Consumer Technology Association.
