Chen oversees policies and programs geared toward improving population health for the more than 26 million members covered by Centene, the nation’s largest Medicaid managed care organization. Chen joined the company in early 2023 after serving as chief medical officer for Covered California. As part of Centene’s strategy to improve health equity and care outcomes, Chen is leading a project focused on building capabilities to collect, standardize and use data regarding race, ethnicity, language, sexual orientation and gender identity, along with information about drivers of health.
