Diversity Leaders in Healthcare - Luminaries

Larkins-Pettigrew has spent upward of four decades working to promote diversity, equity and inclusion on a national and global scale. She leads DEI initiatives at Highmark Health, the parent company of Allegheny Health Network, where she recently oversaw efforts to expand programs promoting the health and well-being of Black families, especially pregnant patients. She also launched and heads the organization’s Equitable Care Institute. She has helped raise more than $14 million for Highmark’s health equity initiatives, affecting access to care within and beyond the Pittsburgh area. In addition, this year she was appointed academic chair of the Drexel University College of Medicine’s Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology.
