Diversity Leaders in Healthcare - 2024

Joiner has promoted diversity, equity and inclusion in several ways since being appointed to his role in 2022. He spearheaded the development of a Cultural Resource Guide aimed at improving interactions between team members and patients from various backgrounds. In addition, he acted to align West Des Moines, Iowa-headquartered UnityPoint’s affinity-based employee networks across the system, helped strike a partnership with a national bank to boost access to healthcare careers for members of underrepresented groups, and established a program that increased the number of diverse suppliers with whom UnityPoint contracts by 10%.
