Cunanan, who was tapped for her post in 2022, has established six employee resource groups with an eye toward retaining talent, fostering mentorship opportunities and creating a safe space for workers to raise awareness of societal issues. Cunanan also expanded bias training and launched new educational initiatives for staff members, along with spearheading collaborations with high schools and medical schools to strengthen the workforce pipeline for members of underrepresented groups. She additionally expanded Cleveland-headquartered UH’s program connecting underresourced people with dietary counseling and healthy food.
