Diversity Leader Organizations - 2024

CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield serves 3.5 million members in Maryland, Virginia, Washington, D.C. and elsewhere through a variety of plans. The company also includes a third-party administrator and a corporate venture business.

Under board and executive leadership, CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield:

• Created programs aimed at fostering equitable internal professional development, such as leadership skill improvement initiatives and an action week for addressing and combating bias.
• Encouraged community service among employees, with workers completing 75,000 volunteer hours in 2023.
• Convened a “Mission Oversight Committee” focusing on diversity, equity and inclusion objectives, which oversaw more than $233 million in grants, sponsorships, investments and other funding efforts last year.
