Karen Murphy

As founding director of the Steele Institute for Health Innovation at Geisinger, Murphy has stressed the importance of strategies that show quantifiable results. Under her leadership, the Steele Institute expanded the “Fresh Food Farmacy,” which allows primary care providers to connect thousands of patients with healthy, nutritious food and education to help improve diabetes outcomes. Before joining the health system, Murphy served as Pennsylvania’s secretary of health as well as the director of the State Innovation Models Initiative at CMS.
