Brooks-LaSure was appointed to lead the agency in 2021, following a decades-long career in the public and private sectors. Since then, CMS has carried out major changes affecting the health sector, including final rules on Affordable Care Act plan standardization; how much Medicare Advantage carriers must pay for errors in diagnostic coding; and reimbursement rates for hospital outpatient providers.
