Top Organizations for Diversity - 2023

Advocate Health was created in 2022 through the merger of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health. The combined system operates 68 hospitals and more than 1,000 other care sites in six states.

Under board and executive leadership, Advocate Health has: 

• Committed to continuing Advocate Health’s legacy organizations’ investments in advancing diversity at all levels of leadership.
• Maintained strong action plans to ensure a diverse workforce, including a nursing leadership pipeline and a mentorship program for nurses of color; a veteran recruitment strategy; and an LGBTQ recruitment and inclusivity plan, among others.
• Built partnerships—including internship placements, scholarships, campus events and mentorship programs—with historically Black colleges and universities, such as Central State University, Johnson C. Smith University and Spelman College.
