As co-founder and executive director of UCLA Health’s early-stage healthcare innovation program, McCaney is seeking to unite the next generation of leaders to address unmet patient needs and cultivate equitable care. Her work has been instrumental in the development of tools to further cancer diagnostics, senior care and other use cases. In 2019, she helped form the UCLA Biodesign Hub for Medical Technology and Digital Health Innovation. Two years later, she established the UCLA Health TechQuity Accelerator, which supports startups in advancements aimed at narrowing health disparities. In an effort to help the populations most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, McCaney and her team engaged community leaders to help determine effective criteria for selecting companies.
