McDonough played a pivotal part in launching Castell, an Intermountain subsidiary helping healthcare organizations transition to value-based care. She contributed to a proactive social determinants of health strategy to better assess value-based care members’ needs before they even speak to a provider. Both Castell and Intermountain are using these data when scaling initiatives. In 2022, McDonough designed and negotiated value-based contracts focused on achieving specific clinical outcomes, such as a partnership with Omada to widen the scope of diabetes prevention programs.
