West was named president and CEO of the San Jose, California-based medical center in 2021. In response to extreme staffing shortages, he led development of a weekly rapid recruitment event that resulted in the hiring of more than 400 full- and part-time employees in 2022. The strategy assisted Regional Medical Center in reducing its vacancy rate by 50%. He also launched a Leadership Advancement Council and established a workgroup that improved the organization’s Leapfrog Group safety ratings.
