After the death of his brother from gun violence, Pratt was determined to mentor at-risk young people. In 2018, he founded Medical Careers Exposure and Emergency Preparedness, an organization aimed at empowering youth of color to recognize and respond to life-threatening situations while introducing them to health-related careers. Pratt is also an emergency department physician at the University of Chicago Medicine’s Level 1 Adult Trauma Center, where he treats some of the South Side’s most critically ill patients.
