Top Diversity Leaders in Healthcare - 2023

Pesquera, who joined Christus Health in 2015, leads the system’s Equity of Care Committee, which uses health data about race, ethnicity, gender and other metrics to design initiatives aimed at reducing barriers to services. Under his leadership as chief diversity officer, the system developed a five-year plan seeking to improve equity of care, increase community benefit and grow the number of racially diverse executives by 8% by 2025. Pesquera also works to advance health equity across the industry in his role as president and board chair of the National Association of Latino Healthcare Executives and as a member of the American Hospital Association Population and Community Health Advisory Committee.
