Fitzgerald joined UnitedHealth in 2021. She is responsible for leading the company’s inclusion and diversity strategy and works as a partner and strategic adviser to UnitedHealth Group’s diversity, equity and inclusion councils. In 2022, United Health Foundation committed to spending $100 million to help increase the diversity of the nation’s health workforce. Its Diversity in Health Care Scholarship program intends to support 10,000 health professionals by 2033. Fitzgerald published a book in March aimed at helping aspiring leaders, especially women of color, succeed in corporate America.
