Top Diversity Leaders in Healthcare - 2023

Mieres, a cardiologist, oversees Northwell’s diversity, inclusion, and health equity strategies. She created and shaped the Center for Equity of Care, which works to eliminate health disparities among Northwell patients. She helped launch the Inclusion Academy leadership development program equipping coordinators, frontline managers, and directors to implement and manage diversity and inclusion strategies at their local facilities. Mieres also helped start a pipeline program at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/ Northwell, designed to connect college students from underserved backgrounds with a variety of healthcare professions.
