Kim is also physician-in-chief and senior vice president at City of Hope Orange County. Before the City of Hope Orange County Lennar Foundation Cancer Center opened in 2022, Kim recruited a staff of medical professionals who can communicate in the 23 most common global languages, reflecting the diversity of Orange County. He champions more inclusive research to advance treatments for people of color, including studies on prostate cancer diagnosis and treatment in Black men and on the links between breast cancer, metabolism and environmental factors. He also launched a stomach and pancreatic cancer screening program for high-risk populations and chaired a project expanding eligibility for cancer clinical trials.
