Lassiter, who joined CommonSpirit Health in 2022, leads a network of 140 hospitals and more than 1,500 care sites operating in 21 states. The organization continued its expansion in 2023 when it acquired five hospitals and other healthcare assets in Utah from Steward Health Care. Lassiter has focused on the organization’s culture, including by promoting diversity, equity and inclusion. Following his work to foster a sense of belonging, staff surveys have shown significantly higher scores in employee well-being, resilience and a strong intent to remain with CommonSpirit. He has also noted the importance of embracing environmental sustainability from a business perspective. Lassiter previously held top leadership positions at Henry Ford Health in Detroit and, before that, Alameda Health System in Oakland, California. He chaired the American Hospital Association in 2022.
