CEO since 2021, Hingtgen has held leadership posts at the organization since 2008. He has made safety a priority at CHS’ 43 healthcare systems across 15 states, with the organization reporting an 89% reduction in its serious safety event rate compared with 2013. He led a restructuring of the companies’ government relations department, mobilizing its hospital CEOs to participate in relevant activities and increasing annual contributions to its federal political action committee by 400% in two years. CHS recently teamed with a population management company to boost access to behavioral health in the primary care setting via virtual services. Hingtgen is on the board of directors of the Federation of American Hospitals, the Nashville Health Care Council, and the Nashville Area Chamber of Commerce.
