Sutaria, Tenet’s CEO since 2021, was named board chair of the healthcare giant in 2023. Tenet, based in Dallas, operates 61 acute-care and specialty hospitals and more than 100 other outpatient facilities; operates or has invested in more than 475 ambulatory surgery centers and surgical hospitals; and owns revenue cycle management company Conifer Health Solutions. Its expansion efforts have continued: Its United Surgical Partners International subsidiary took an ownership stake in three ambulatory surgery centers in early 2023—with deals to do so for dozens of others. Tenet leaders have voiced plans to invest at least $250 million in ambulatory care each year. Sutaria, who joined Tenet in 2019, previously was its president and chief operating officer.
