Chung presides over the board of an organization representing more than 67,000 pediatricians. The association in October called for the automatic enrollment of newborns in a single health insurance program combining Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program, with the ability to opt out if other coverage is available. Chung has used her position to advocate for improving youth behavioral care services, getting kids vaccinated and boosting the sustainability of the profession. She is the CEO of the large pediatric practice Trusted Doctors and serves as medical director of informatics at Children’s National’s Pediatric Health Network. She is also the medical director of the Virginia Mental Health Access Program and co-chair of the Virginia Task Force on Primary Care, among other leadership roles.
