Robert Riney
President and CEO, Henry Ford Health
Riney has led the five-hospital academic medical center based in Detroit since 2022. In October, Henry Ford announced its plan to combine with Ascension Michigan, creating a $10.5 billion health system with 13 hospitals. The Ascension facilities would be rebranded as Henry Ford properties, run by Riney as CEO. Earlier in the year, Henry Ford revealed a plan to revamp its academic healthcare campus as part of a $2.5 billion community development partnership with the Detroit Pistons, team owner Tom Gores and Michigan State University. Also in 2023, Henry Ford’s insurance arm Health Alliance Plan and CareSource, one of the nation’s largest managed care organizations, received regulatory approval to form a joint venture. Riney, who joined the health system in 1978, held several senior leadership roles before being named president and CEO. He is a trustee of the Alfred I. duPont Charitable Trust and a member of the Michigan Health and Hospital Association board of trustees.
