President and CEO, American Hospital Association
Pollack has led the nation’s largest hospital and healthcare system membership organization—comprising about 5,000 providers—since 2015. In 2023, the AHA stressed the need for payment updates from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services that will sustain the industry in the long term, emphasizing the challenging operating environment many healthcare providers face. It is also working to persuade Congress against additional “site-neutral” policies that would reduce hospital outpatient department payments for some services. Beyond Capitol Hill, the AHA this year launched the Quality Collective, a peer-to-peer learning exchange for healthcare quality leaders. Pollack serves on the steering committee for the National Academy of Medicine’s Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-being and Resilience. He joined the AHA in 1982 and spent more than two decades as its executive vice president for advocacy and public policy.
