Dr. Mitchell Katz
President and CEO, NYC Health + Hospitals
Leading the nation’s largest municipal health system since 2018, Katz has overseen expansion of its healthcare services and creation of an access program for uninsured New Yorkers that serves more than 100,000 people. In May, the organization announced that 600 patients found housing through its Housing for Health initiative, which includes navigation services, medical respite beds, affordable housing on hospital property and social service support. The initiative is expected to create nearly 650 new affordable homes in the next five years. Katz came to New York from the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services, the nation’s second largest public safety-net system, of which he was the director. Before that, he was director and health officer of the San Francisco Department of Health.
