Pykosz, who co-founded the network of primary care clinics for Medicare beneficiaries in 2012, stayed on as CEO after CVS Health bought the company for $10.6 billion in May 2023. In October, he was named interim president of health services for CVS Health while the executive in that position took a leave of absence. Oak Street currently operates more than 190 centers across 24 states and is on track to operate 300 clinics by 2026. While focused on primary care, Oak Street also has a behavioral health program that employs psychiatrists and social workers, which Pykosz considers essential to help patients manage chronic conditions. The vast majority of its centers treat older adults living in medically underserved neighborhoods. Before Oak Street, Pykosz worked at Boston Consulting Group for six years.
