In 2023, he co-authored a study published in JAMA Internal Medicine that found significant discrepancies between hospitals’ online and phone price estimates. Over the past few years, Cost Plus Drug Co. has announced partnerships with Select Health, a health plan owned by Intermountain Health; EmansaRx, the pharmacy benefit manager launched by the Purchaser Business Group on Health; Blue Shield of California; and Capital Blue Cross. Cuban, an entrepreneur and venture capitalist, owns several other companies.
