Skogsbergh and Woods are CEOs of the 67-hospital system created by the December 2022 merger of Advocate Aurora Health and Atrium Health. The Charlotte, North Carolina-based system serves Alabama, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, South Carolina and Wisconsin. Under their leadership, the entity has prioritized making services more affordable and accessible: Its affiliated accountable care organizations tallied more than $128 million in savings through the Medicare Shared Savings Program in 2022. Both Skogsbergh and Woods formerly chaired the American Hospital Association’s board of trustees. Woods, previously president and CEO of Atrium Health, chaired the board of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond in 2022. He is on the board of directors of Best Buy and the board of trustees of Johnson C. Smith University. Skogsbergh, who was president and CEO at Advocate Aurora Health, chaired the AHA’s political action committee for two years ending in 2021. He plans to retire in 2024.
