Dr. Georges Benjamin
Executive director, American Public Health Association
At the helm since 2002, Benjamin leads the 150-year-old association working to bolster the public health profession, publicize best practices and disseminate public health research and information. Benjamin has appeared before Congress on repeated occasions to offer expert insight on public health matters, including a 2023 testimony before the House Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic about how the nation can prepare for future mass disease events. The association under his leadership has created several initiatives over the past few years aimed at addressing climate change, calling it “the biggest health emergency we face today.” Benjamin is vice chair of the boards of Research(!)America, a medical and health research advocacy alliance, and the Reagan-Udall Foundation for the Food and Drug Administration.
