Chip Kahn
President and CEO, Federation of American Hospitals
As head of the national advocacy organization for tax-paying hospitals since 2001, Kahn is one of the healthcare industry’s top lobbyists. He has had a lasting impact on hospital quality measures, from helping to launch the Hospital Quality Alliance, a public-private collaboration, in 2002, to co-chairing the Measure Applications Partnership Coordinating Committee of the National Quality Forum from 2016 to 2023. In 2023, he co-authored a study in Health Affairs that found some patient and community health equity risk factors that are typically outside hospitals’ direct influence were associated with the likelihood that a hospital will be penalized under the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ value-based programs. He is a founding member and co-chair of Future of Health Summit, which convenes senior leaders from around the world to address key issues in healthcare.
