Malone, who has headed the organization for nurse faculty and leaders in nursing education since 2007, routinely uses her position to encourage nurse educators to take action in the fight against climate change and its adverse effects on health. In 2023, she led the effort to re-establish the Nursing Education Research Conference, hosted exclusively by the NLN after a five-year hiatus. The NLN also teamed up this year with the International Council of Nurses to develop a plan to scale up the education of nurses around the world. Malone is vice chair of the board of Institute for Healthcare Improvement and serves on the steering committees for the National Academy of Medicine’s Action Collaborative on Decarbonizing the U.S. Health Sector and NAM’s Action Collaborative on Clinician Well-Being and Resilience.
