Gapstur took the top job at the eight-hospital system serving central Pennsylvania in 2019. Gapstur, a registered nurse, is focused on using creative strategies to address workforce shortages, such as partnering with local high schools, colleges and universities; experimenting with using virtual approaches to nursing, credentialing and human resources needs; and making the recruitment process more efficient. Under her leadership, WellSpan has also expanded its inpatient bed capacity.
