Johnese Spisso
President, UCLA Health
Spisso, who trained as a nurse and is also CEO of UCLA Health System and associate vice chancellor for UCLA Health Sciences, joined UCLA in 2016. The organization’s wide-ranging operations include four medical centers, a network of more than 200 clinics and a faculty practice group. Spisso also steers the system’s regional outreach strategy. In 2022, it announced plans to convert a former medical center into a state-of-the-art neuropsychiatric hospital in a bid to respond to the area’s long-standing need for additional psychiatric services. The project, scheduled to begin this year, will expand UCLA Health’s neuropsychiatric bed capacity by 60%.
