Dr. Selwyn Vickers
President and CEO, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center
With decades of experience as a surgeon and researcher, Vickers has resolved to make the services at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center—where he was appointed president and CEO last September—more accessible to New Yorkers. He has frequently spoken out about the need to address disparities in healthcare, including through a piece in the American Journal of Medicine about the disproportionate effects of COVID-19 on Black Americans. He previously served as senior vice president for medicine and dean of the Heersink School of Medicine at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, where he oversaw a workforce of more than 17,000 people and fostered major funding growth.
