Dr. Shreya Kangovi
Founding executive director, Penn Center for Community Health Workers, associate professor of medicine, Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
Kangovi has devoted her career to uncovering barriers to staying healthy. She led the team that developed IMPaCT, a scalable program that relies on community health workers to improve the health of high-risk populations. Numerous organizations across 20 states have replicated IMPaCT, making it one of the most widely adopted community health worker programs in the U.S. Studies have shown that IMPaCT delivers evidence-based improvements in mental health and chronic disease management while reducing hospital days. Kangovi also founded the Penn Center for Community Health Workers, a national center of excellence dedicated to advancing health equity through effective, sustainable community health worker programs.
